How these stories are made
Miles Rook has loved computers since the first one crashed on him. For years he dreamed of a co-processor for his imagination: something that would take his ideas, his terrible puns and his notes scribbled at 2 a.m., and compile them into stories. Now he has one. Miles designs the worlds, the systems and the jokes; an AI does the heavy typing; and a human editor reads every line before it ships. He writes LitRPG about systems, the bugs hiding in them, and the people who refuse to be garbage-collected, for readers who read the patch notes. Yes, these are the patch notes.
The specifics
- Miles Rook stories are written with AI tools. I design the worlds, the systems and the plots, direct the drafting, and review and approve every book before release.
- Every chapter of the serial is edited by me before it goes up.
- The Nexus Protocol is disclosed to Amazon as AI-generated.
- Terms and Conditions Apply is tagged AI-Generated on Royal Road.
- The covers are AI-generated as well.
What isn’t automated
- Replies. If you email me or comment on Royal Road, the answer is written by me.
- The decision about what a story is for, and whether a chapter is good enough to ship.
Why this page exists
Because you should know before you read, not find out afterward. Some readers don’t want AI-assisted fiction, and that is a fair call. This page is here so you can make it with the facts in hand. If you do read on, the stories are built to be worth your time; if they aren’t, tell me.
This page is updated when the process changes.
